Smart Square HMH Login: Step-by-Step Guide

If you work at Hackensack Meridian Health, your shifts live in Smart Square — and the Smart Square HMH login is the door to them. This guide walks you through signing in step by step, on a computer and on your phone, plus what to do when the login does not work. Every step below is checked against the official portal.

What you need before you log in

• Your HMH Network ID — the username HMH IT issued you. It is not your email address, unless your usual sign-in specifically asks for the email.
• Your HMH password — the same password you use for other HMH systems.
• Duo — if your account has two-step verification, you will approve a Duo prompt on your phone after entering your password.

New to HMH? Accounts are created by HMH IT — there is no self sign-up for Smart Square. If you have never been given login details, ask your manager or HMH IT first; no website can create an account for you.

Smart Square HMH login: step by step (computer)

1. Open the official login page: meridian.smart-square.com.
2. Choose “Continue to SmartSquare”. (If you normally use the other route, choose “Alternate Login” instead — both lead to your schedule; use the one that matches how you usually sign in.)
3. Enter your HMH Network ID and password. Check caps lock — passwords are case-sensitive.
4. Approve the Duo prompt on your phone if one appears.
5. You land on your Smart Square home screen, where you can view your schedule, pick up open shifts, swap shifts and request time off.

Login on your phone: Smart Square Go

For phones, use the current app, Smart Square Go (by symplr) — older apps and look-alike listings are a common source of failed logins. The setup step most people miss:

1. Install Smart Square Go from your phone's app store.
2. When the app asks for your organisation, enter meridian.smart-square.com.
3. Sign in with the same HMH Network ID and password, and approve Duo if prompted.

Forgot your password?

Use the official reset page: Smart Square password reset. Enter the details it asks for and follow the email instructions. Do not pay any site or call any number that offers to reset it for you — password resets are free and only happen on the official portal. Login not working? Quick checks

• Caps lock / wrong ID: use your Network ID, not your full email, unless your sign-in asks for the email.
• Duo prompt missed: the login waits for approval — reopen the Duo app and approve, then try again if it timed out.
• App cannot find your organisation: the organisation URL must be exactly meridian.smart-square.com.
• Still locked out: call the real HMH support line — 732-776-4442, Monday–Friday 7am–5pm. Some clone guide sites publish a different, fake support number; 732-776-4442 is the number shown on the official portal.

Stay safe: three rules

1. Only ever enter your HMH password on meridian.smart-square.com.
2. No guide site, forum or “support” chat should ever ask for your password — real support never does.
3. Bookmark the official login page so you never have to search for it and land on a copycat site.
